Councillor Lauren Martinson

I have recently moved from Waterloo in London to Alcester, after being born in Wales and raised in Essex.

Alcester felt like home to me as a safe place to settle with a welcoming, virtuous community with an abundance of creativity, and where diligence is honourable.

I qualified from Goldsmiths University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, where I now mentor Goldsmiths Fine Art Masters students online, and students from Frances Rich School of Fine and Performing Arts in Athens. I have worked as an Art Director for films and music videos, Social Media Assistant, Content Producer and Content Creator for a magazine, marketing agency and dating app, and as a Visual Merchandise Construction Designer for multiple luxury fashion brands. I did these freelance positions whilst also working full time as a corporate Executive Assistant and Personal Assistant, and as Behavioural Supervisor for a secondary school Inclusion Unit.

I have exhibited art in Essex, London and Athens, and arranged music events for local musicians in which I also performed as a singer with an acoustic guitar, and as lead singer of a rock/indie band.

I have a keen interest in psychotherapy, and neurology, which has led me to complete courses in Autism and Youth Mental Health First Aid.

I am now currently studying counselling, as well as volunteering with the Holiday Lunch Club at The Eric Payne Community Centre, and I am excited for any wonderful opportunities within the great community of this town.
