Gone Fishin….May 2021
In May and June, Alcester Town Council hosted a fishing programme for a small number of individuals. Funding from The Angling Trust (Sports England Tackling Inequalities Fund) provided an opportunity for four lucky residents to have some free coaching sessions and learn how to fish.
The event was a fantastic opportunity in allowing participants to get outdoors, be active and re-connect after the effects of the pandemic.
One participant commented “I really enjoyed the lessons, and they met my objective of having an experience of fishing. Both instructors were excellent. Paul was also an experienced hand and provided good tips. They were all very patient with a beginner.”
One of the participants is now training to become a fishing coach and will put those skills to use by teaching the children at the Youth Club.
